My skin has never been my best friend. From battling intense dry skin during Chicago winters to acne beyond my teenage years, I try to stay away from most conventional beauty products. I’ve done the whole “I am not washing my face” for months to dousing my body in coconut oil.
My philosophy now is to not put anything on my skin I wouldn’t feel comfortable eating. Sounds crazy? It shouldn’t. Our skins absorbs whatever we put on it. Yes, it does. I live a double life though since I work at a hospital I have to put chemicals I wish I never had to come in contact with on my skin. But that’s for another day. So for now, I do the best I can.
I am a big proponent of infrared saunas. I will do a post later on the wonderfulness of them. A few months back I went to Alchemie Spa in Santa Monica, CA and I found this face mask I love. It’s the Chlorella Algae Mask made by ISUN.
It’s like putting green juice on your face. A part of me wanted to eat it…. not going to lie. And it would have been fine. Check out the ingredients.
It hydrates my skin without any irritation, which isn’t an easy feat. It actually helped reduce the redness in my skin probably, which is a constant problem from me.
If you’re in need of of some hydration and redness reduction, I say try this. I dedicate this post to my friend Eric, who reminded me about face masks. Face makes not only nourish your skin, but your sould too. Now, I just need to make it part of my routine, so can I prevent my skin from getting so ridiculously dry.
I dig this. It’s au naturale. Plant-derived. 100% vegan. And it’s affordable.
What face masks do you use? Does anyone make their own? Leave comments below!
